When working in the graphics
design industry there are many legal pitfalls you should be aware of.
For instance the copyright
law is when someone creates a certain type of media such as which is in the
form as information, for instance software or books. If people want to use
these resources they have to ask for permission from the owners. This therefore
can allow businesses to make a lot of money without any one stealing their
ideas and marketing them themself.
Another implication is when
you want to take a picture of someone, if you want to use it, you will have to
have a model release form filled out by the person to allow you to use it. This
is done for the reason of; some people don’t find it appropriate to use
photographs of other people.
The obscene publication law
is where you can’t use images that are obscene, the designer will also have to
take in to account the age of the audience it will be shown to, for instance an
obscene image on a children’s website would probably not be acceptable. And you
would have to take into account peoples religion.
