D1

Interpersonal and written skills

Verbal communication is face to face talking, it has been very useful to me over the course as I have spoken to my teachers and they have explained to me how to do particular tasks and gave me information regarding the tasks in which have helped me achieve the set work.

Broadcasting is the teacher sending useful projections of his screen which allows him to provide useful information or documents to myself and others. This has helped me complete my tasks as it has shown how to use various programmes such as publisher. Broadcasting has also helped me as the teacher has shown me good examples of other people’s work which helped me understand how to do my own work.

Blogger is an online blogging service very useful for uploading documents in which can be viewed and edited by chosen people. It has been very useful to me as my teacher was able to view my work and leave comments consisting of criticism or praise. It can also be useful for instance if someone loses a document they may be able to access it if they have posted it on blogger.

Gmail is a free webmail website provided by Google where you can send quick and efficient emails of any size. This service helped me a lot in the early stage of the course. As I could send my work to my teacher and he would email me back with improvements or confirmation of the task. This was useful also as it was very quick which meant I could make quick improvements and meet the deadline of the task.

PowerPoint is a programme designed by Microsoft. It is relatively easy to use and requires little IT skills. It helped me as it can be uploaded to my blogger easily as PowerPoint converts it to a jpeg. Which again allows me to receive quick comments leading to quick improvements or I can move on to the next task quicker.

Publisher: I have only used this programme once and I found it fairly easy to use it was useful to create my top ten attributes which allowed me to achieve a task. The disadvantages of this are that it isn’t easy to use and takes some time to get used to it  however when you know how to use the programme it can be effectively used to make documents.

I didn’t use Google calendar in my course as I had already completed the task that needed doing In that service.

Learning styles

Visual learning is learning by visual input such as:
·       Books
·       Pictures
·       Documents
·       Games
·       Films

This is the most frequent method of learning however it has been proven that we don’t have much recall of them.

Auditory learning - Learning from songs music or audio diaries this is a very good way because subconsciously remains in your mind.

Kinaesthetic learning- learning from performing an action such as:
·       Playing a game
·       Working on a computer
·       Writing
This is the best method as muscle memory takes over and you will also remember things subconsciously as well.

These styles of learning are used in everyday life especially in schools and in the work place

When developing my own skills I mainly used kinaesthetic and visual learning I found these were the best for my learning environment in school.

Communications: I have used a website called posterous to share my work with teachers. I chose to use this website because it was easy to post my work and easy for teachers to view and comment on it. I have also used Gmail to show my teachers work this again is effective because it was fast and easy and easy for them to reply to therefore I received feedback a lot quicker.

Communication and Barriers

For example when talking to a science teacher you would use scientific terminology because it allows you to communicate with people more effectively within their genre of professionalism. Modulating your voice; when   I want to communicate to my friends I use a certain tone that I wouldn't use when talking to my parents.
For example when giving a presentation you wouldn't quote your presentation word for word. Again in a presentation to help get your point across you would use body language.
If you're writing a report it is allot easier to understand if the grammar is correct and makes it look more professorial.
For example if there was a conversation between a doctor and a patient if the doctor was shy or was really aggressive then the patient may get the wrong idea about there problem and think its allot worse than it actually is.
If you are working in an office and your partner is in another room then you may not be able to communicate as well the methods in which you can use to communicate are reduced down to phoning, texting, or emailing. this way you can not use body language to fully communicate and the recipient will not fully understand you.

when you want to speak to someone that speaks a different language it it useful to have a translator they can reduce the impact of the barriers by translating there words into your language so you can understand what there saying.
Open work spaces; for example in a office if the rooms are not blocked by walls and are open spaces colleagues can communicate more effectively by talking out loud to one an other
